      Syngenta launches VANIVA? in Brazil

      Syngenta recently announced that it has obtained registration in Brazil for VANIVA?, a solution based on the TYMIRIUM? technology. VANIVA? enters the market as a nematicide and fungicide developed specifically to help growers manage nematodes and soilborne diseases, with a focus on sugarcane, coffee, and horticultural crops.

      The presence of nematodes in different types of agricultural soils and regions of Brazil represents a significant challenge for farmers. Nematodes attack crop roots and open the way for disease infections, reducing productivity by 15 percent?to 25?percent.

      A study by Syngenta, in collaboration with the Brazilian Society of Nematology and other partners, found that nematodes cause an estimated $150 billion in losses every year, directly affecting farmer profitability, as well as the national and global economies.

      The synergy between nematodes and soilborne diseases has compounded the problem, leading to even greater yield losses.?In sugarcane, for example, ratoon stunting disease has been spreading significantly in several regions of Brazil, impacting up to 45?percent of productivity in the field.?In banana crops, Fusarium-related diseases can result in the total loss of plantations.
